Manly love and angst

Am reading a George Manville Fenn book, Nic Revel, and having trouble tearing myself away to do the things I've got to do, today.  It was slow going at first, but after it got moving it really hooked me, and now there's tons of angst for the older, lower class guy who's fallen in love with caring for (wait...) the young, upper class guy who's been injured and lost his memory. Young Nic was clinging to Pete's arm and sleeping with his head in Pete's lap, but then his brain fever took another turn and suddenly he remembered that they'd faught, earlier on, and he seems to have completely forgotten that Pete's been taking care of him for three weeks while they were on board ship. 

Okay, must tear myself away and go do laundry.
