Darn, I forgot to go watch the topless march in Portland, today. I completely forgot to tell Eor about it, and we were out straight all day. The march was supposed to change the double standard that women are not treated equally to men when both take their shirts off. And the organizer was apparently pissed that so many men showed up to oogle, because "Society should treat us the same!" She did prove that point, but I don't get why she expected that people would react differently.
Most of the women I work with thought this idea was stupid - wasn't going to change anything and there's plenty of much more useful things that could be demonstrated about. I suggested they could march topless to raise awareness that animal shelters need donations. But I'd rather that we had some kind of march to get everyone to keep their shirts ON.
