We got up at 4:15AM to drive her to the airport. She's gone back to Arizona, again, and somehow I don't expect her to return, this time. I didn't get teary at the airport; I'll probably do that in the middle of the night next week or something, when it sinks in. I often have very delayed emotional responses, but also I think I got prepared for it. I did some being teary about it when she told us that she was going to leave, a few weeks (a month or more?) ago.
I thought I was going to go back to sleep after getting home, but there's a lot to do and, well, she managed to clean up her apartment all night, get two hours of sleep, and be ready to go, all lovely in diaphanous green at quarter of five in the morning, so I felt ashamed to think of needing more than five hours sleep. Besides, I'm having an easy day of it at work - I'm downstairs and not even training anyone. And it's a great team, today - Dervish(GK), WB, Mr. Knowitall(DS) and, I think, DC (who I don't have a nick for) - it should be a good day. :) Kind of a break, after having done so much spotting last week, and I was on that again, yesterday.
I actually selected a guy for additional screening, which is the first time I've done that by myself. And then I had to fill out the paperwork five times over because I kept screwing it up, because it was the first time I'd ever done it. After that I told FIL I won't make the mistake of pulling another person - it's just way too much trouble. (Yes, selecting people for additional screening is what I'm supposed to be doing in that job of spotting.)
Other than that, the highpoint of my day, yesterday, was doing crossword puzzles with N to help her with her English. It sort of worked, though that crossword book concentrates far too much on colloquialisms and famous people. It was fun, anyway - I never do crosswords by myself. I'm actually not that good at them, but it's just hysterical when you're doing them with someone who tries to spell everything phonetically from an Arabic point of view. :) "Circle? S-I-R-Q-L?"
