eor's stretch of put-the-head-down-and-pull-through Christmas rush work is almost here. In fact, the volume has tailed off, but for the past few days everything has been 'rush!' After today he gets four days off.
For me, today should be a madhouse at work. I probably won't get much, if any, training done. Yesterday I had two trainees who were on their first day and I felt as though I was forcing them to drink from the firehose. Particularly poor CF (Mother of the Angel Voice). I'm going to petition for CF to get extra training time because I really felt as though the time she's had hasn't been really conducive to learning deeply, it was too rushed. She won't do badly, though, she has the knack for this kind of thing.
Double D was my other trainee, yesterday, and he did pretty well with the drinking from the fire hose thing. He's not only a quick learner and very comfortable with computers (that's an indicator, I've found) but was quite willing to completely ignore the bags piling up and. His concentration was a little off during the part of the day when we were able to take more time, because he was upset about something completely unrelated, but I don't think he's going to have any problem with this.
I get the next two days off, but we know that at least Monday and Tuesday of next week are going to be hell. I'll go in for overtime, but it's going to suck leaving Eor early on days when he's home. I'm not sure how early I'll be able to be. Of course, I really suck at going to work early at the best of times. Two hours earlier than normal is about the best I can do.
But for now... Need to get out there into the maddening crowds. I not only still haven't bought Eor's present(s), I also need to pick up Teena's coat and sweater at the drycleaners for her, and mail them to her in Arizona. :) And get Eor's last car payment down to the main post office - it needs to be to them before Tuesday, I think.
