Eor pulled out a swath of bamboo yesterday, stretching down the slope - he was feeling a bit aggravated with someone (not me ;)) and as he put it "the bamboo didn't stand a chance." So this morning I was out there at like ten past seven, raking like mad trying to get the sticks and leaves up and some of the rocks out (mostly the rocks rolled downhill onto the neighbor's property) so I could sew wildflower seeds and hopefully combat erosion a little bit. Sunday we hung up two bird feeders at the back end of the lawn, so the birds are already forming a habit of hanging around for an easy meal. I can only hope they'll go for the easy meal in the feeders and leave some of the seed on the ground!

I caused a lot of erosion myself with my initial raking, so I didn't want to walk back onto that area after seeding it. Picture me squatting at the edge of the barren area, bouncing the lawn rake up and down like a huge jumping spider. I hope that was amusing to the neighbors. :)

The guy up the street saw me walking up toward Rite Aid (to pick up our prescriptions - which, with their usual efficiency, were not ready at the time the auto-phone-answering-thing said they would be, so I have to go back) and he stopped to ask me how the gardening was going. "Great! Eor pulled out bamboo yesterday and I just seeded the whole hillside with wildflowers!" After I said it I realized I had exaggerated a BIT. There's still a long way to go before the hillside is clear. I was just so hyped with having been out doing that in the fresh morning air. :)

Wow, it sounds like hard work! I really should get down to doing something with my garden, but I don't know where to start. But that won't be this evening anyway, because I have to tidy my room.
