But before I get into the meat of it:  I was just listening to [livejournal.com profile] mizzmarvel's phone post made from the train as she's on her trip back to Indiana, and I could have sworn she said she sat with a table full of comedians at lunch, and she was disappointed that they didn't say 'eh' once.

...

She must have meant Canadians, eh?

I'm trying to discover a good way to make chocolate vodka martinis at home.  Tonight's experiment is Hershey's syrup shaken into Cold River potato vodka.  [livejournal.com profile] eor says it makes vodka-flavored chocolate instead of chocolate-flavored vodka - or in other words, 'too much chocolate!'  But, I like chocolate.

Watched the first Cowboy Bebop, today, which [livejournal.com profile] bravecows sent me a few months ago.  Liked it! :)  Good animation - it is, as she billed it, film noir-ish.  Also very James Bond-ish.  And good music.  I know I'll watch another. :)

I'm really liking "Lamb: the gospel according to Biff, Jesus's childhood pal" (Christopher Moore).  Yes, I couldn't resist, I started reading it, even though I have "The Joy Luck Club" (Amy Tan) on loan from my co-worker (A.McL.) and I really should get that read and back to her, and I haven't even gotten the next book-club pick out of the library, yet.  But, "Lamb..."  It's funny, obnoxious, and really sweet

I was reminded, today, between reading "Lamb" and listening to a random ska CD (Easy Big Fella), that the obnoxious-funny/sweet thing is something I really like.  The people I enjoy spending time with tend to be like that.  The best slash stories about young guys will have that going.  I need to learn how to write that.  I need to figure out how to integrate that with my Pseudo Victorian Boys Adventure story.  "But!" I said to myself, "Can one have obnoxious-funny boy humor and do a Victorian-style story?"  I'm not sure.  In actual Victorian stories they're so ... clueless.  They can't make the kind of crass jokes on each other which people do in normal life.

Just interrupted myself to go call Teena.  I hadn't heard from her in too long - a week! - and I got worried.  Heh. :)  I don't usually call people.  I feel like such an idiot on the phone.  Phone-phobic.  But she's very comfortable on the phone, so that helps.  I'm happy - I talked with her, she's good, though has allergies or perhaps a cold, and her father's computer had a virus, which was why she hadn't written.

I was going to talk about BuddyBoy's Going To Iraq party, which happened last Tuesday - damn, I'm so behind! - but now it's time for bed.  Maybe tomorrow.  He'll be happy to see his name in my LJ again.  He said he went through the last three months worth of entries and didn't see his name and was bummed out.  But how can I have anything to write about him?  He doesn't write me, and it's been like a year since he left TSA, I very rarely see him.

Good night. :)
