This is different how?

I had major squee last night.:)  My new MP3 player is here!  And [livejournal.com profile] eor set up the software on my computer and started explaining how to use the mysterious pitons.*  There are only four, but one of them is that sort of thing they call a 'joystick,' (if I can't wrap my hand around it, it doesn't feel much like a joystick to me... nyark nyark) which you can push in four directions, and has multiple ways of clicking it for different results).

So, this morning I have to play with the new toy and try to learn more about it. :)  Yes, I'm terribly excited at the prospect of having music or radio shows (or possibly books?  Can I get books on mp3?) to take with me on walks, but I'm also intimidated at how much I have to learn!

Ah, well, it's nearly 8, I should stretch, shower, etc.  Last night I saw FIL's scribbled over sheet where he was trying to work out the schedule for today.  He had me written in for the spotter.  He said, "It's either that or you have to be downstairs floor lead."  I made some noise that I hope expressed resignation.  I felt frustration, but I've only done it twice this week, so I guess I can't complain too much.  It's just that the other two days so far this week I was upstairs (in the checkpoint), and I was hoping for a day downstairs where I wouldn't have to deal with passengers.  Then he said that that was not the schedule as it eventually got worked out, which gives me some hope that he just put my name there to tease me.

...

Okay, stretching done, shower done, and a new yahoo group created: a new binne to replace the has-binne .  I used to run binne as an email list which [livejournal.com profile] eor had set up on his own server, but he's trying to move everything important off the server so that if it goes down (as it often has when we've been away on vacation) other people won't be inconvenienced.  It's been a very low-volume list, anyway, hardly worth the effort of finding it another place to live, but... maybe I just don't quite want to call it dead.  Especially with the Ninth International Conference on Bisexuality coming up this year.  They don't do a conference every year, I think it's every other year.

And, I just got a phone call from Dad saying he'll be down tomorrow morning. :)  So I guess I won't be helping T clean and paint on Sunday, because if I spend Saturday with Dad I'll have to do laundry and groceries on Sunday.  I hope I have some plain coffee hiding somewhere around here so I can fire up the coffee maker for him.  Before you even ask, [livejournal.com profile] eor, no, I didn't ask him why he's coming down, and he didn't say.  Typical of us. :)

It's raining.

Thanks, I'll look around, there. I expecially want 2 book - "Never Be Lied To Again" and "Reading People." It's professional reading.

Okay, how's this for ironic - there's been an Asimov's (SF magazine) sitting on my bedside table for a month, with a column by James Patrick Kelley about audio books and radio dramas, which contains a buttload of links to different sites. Of course, on his own site, as I've mentioned before on my LJ, he has free downloads of himself reading his own stories.
