There's been a very ambitious spider making webs all over our kitchen, and this morning she had a nice one established between the nasturtium (which we bought two weeks ago with the trees and haven't transplanted yet) and the countertop. I got a jar and came at the web from both sides, jar on one side, lid on the other, and stuck the web to the edges of the jar so evenly and smoothly that the spider didn't seem to notice hardly at all. Right in the center she sat, quite calmly, until I got her outside and hooked an evergreen sprig under the web to get her out, and she scrambled over there quite cooperatively. Minimal stress on all sides. :)
