I have had a sore throat for a week and haven't had the time to let myself get better. Now I'm developing a cough, and it frigging hurts. I suppose I should call my doctor.
I'm listening to Brinsley Forde's dub show from Friday - can't provide a direct link, I can't figure out how, but I found it through http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/listen/. At the break I think I'll try Craig Charles's funk show.
Which all reminds me - Friday, Hawk got in a little late, because he'd gone out with his friend, D, and, apparently, D's little daughter, A. D used to be a DJ with a ska show on the college station when they were at University of Maine in Orono. Hawk informed us if we'd been listening to the radio on Friday night they'd have heard him, D and A on Rude909's ska show (which is through WMPG, the USM station) - but he didn't think to call us so we could listen!
Also, he had a schedule of the World Cup soccer games which had, among other small pictures, a tiny little picture of D and A screaming in the stands. They go to a lot of soccer games, and, because A is a cute little kid who sits up front and screams with her dad, the cameras love her. :)
Oh, boo, the most recent of Craig Charles's shows seems to have been guest DJd. Bummer. Anyway, they seem to do a lot less talking and messing around on British radio, so I probably wouldn't hear much of his voice anyway.
Now, because I'm ADD like that, I'm listening to some jazz which is apparently streaming off http://www.wmpg.org/. I was hoping to find Rude909's last show archived there, but no luck. So I dropped him an email and told him he should do that. ;)
Whups, that didn't last long. The next song that came up was crap. That's okay, there's lots of stuff I should be doing. Like, er, dishes. And calling my doctor's office, maybe.
And basically I wrote this whole post in avoidance mode. I told myself I should sit down and write about all the stuff that came up in conversations with Hawk and Eor over the past few days, but... Well, to be blunt, I'm not sure I'm ready to talk about all of it to everyone in the world, but the people I'd want most to share it with don't have LJs. *looks pointedly to Alaska* Waitaminute. There is another thing, isn't there? Called... 'email'? If I remember correctly. Still. Organizational skills are lacking, today.
Gee, my wrist is hurting. Oh, I could move my mouse back to the left, where I usually have it, couldn't I? Now that Mom's gone. She moves in and takes over and re-organizes my house and even my desk to suit her.
Need tea.
