I happened across [livejournal.com profile] buddhists because of something [livejournal.com profile] peak_in_darien said, and after reading for quite a bit longer than I had intended I ended up joining.  It's not alt_buddha_short_fat_guy (a usenet newsgroup back in the nineties), but then nothing ever will be again.  (eta: I suppose I can't keep pining for my lost newsgroup forever?) (eta yet again - the post Peak referenced which made me really think of absfg: woodchucks to nunchucks. :))
