Via [livejournal.com profile] phoenikoi: Folklore of homeless children.  And holy crap, the writer of this article paced it out well.  At the very end you learn Bloody Mary's identity, and EEP! :(  As I said to [livejournal.com profile] phoenikoi, on the one hand I'd almost like to see this used as a background for stories, but also I don't want to see it appropriated from the kids, as they created these stories because they need them to sustain themselves.

Yeah, I've read that before. It's amazing and disturbing and Neil Gaiman only wishes he had come up with something that compelling for American Gods.

Yeah, Neil Gaimen was who I thought of, too. It wouldn't surprise me if he came out with something referencing this mythology, sometime. I only hope he doesn't go too far with it.
