I just thought to check and see if my results were up on the Genographic Project. Indeed they are. And I'm surprised. It shows I have a mitochondrial marker in common with about 5% of the population of Northern and Western Europe, and about 12% of Basques ("an isolated group in Northern Spain"). Hm. I'm not sure what to make of this. Percentage match to population vs. population size seems to weigh in on me not having a Basque ancestor, I think. Finding good information about a maternal ancestor, of course, is nearly impossible.
