Listening to Mel Brooks music in fast forward is kind of trippy. I especially like "Vorobyaninov's Theme" (The Walk Through Russia), from The Twelve Chairs - imagine the Chipmunks doing a wordless choral thing in minor key. :)
If anyone desperately wants particular music off the High Anxiety album, let me know. I'm now changing it all to mp3... let me assert again how grateful I am to Eor for copying these vinyls over into wav format and setting me up with software to edit the songs apart from each other and convert them.
Side One of High Anxiety is pretty forgettable - it's basically the High Anxiety theme done four different ways, two of them with Brooks singing, and a crappy song intended to spoof all 60's music, "If you love me baby tell me loud."
Side Two, though, is pretty good. I'll admit to being a dork and holding "Hope For The Best, Expect The Worst" close to my heart. :) I'm also very very fond of "I'm Tired," which is Madeline Khan singing as Miss Lily, the jaded Germanic sex kitten in Blazing Saddles. Oh how I love her! :) The aforementioned Vorobyaninov's Theme is nice background music (probably particularly nice for a Halloween party - too bad I didn't get this done last week). The Main Title from Young Frankenstein is, to my ears, quite similar, though it's supposed to sound like a middle European lullaby. And of course the Young Frankenstein version of "Puttin' On The Ritz" is classic. :) And then there's "Burt Reynolds' House" from Silent Movie, which is just kind of cool to own as a trivia fact - most people don't know there was a piece written for full orchestra that enshrines Burt Reynolds' name. :)
