We had our first swing and salsa dance class, tonight. And I'm not positive there'll be a second one. It was fun for a while, but she very shortly got beyond what I could understand and Eor and I got frustrated, and then she continued moving along quickly. It reminded me of how I felt in karate in high school... I didn't take karate for long. I went to one aerobics class, once, and again ... *sigh* They always say things like "simple moves" and I'm left in the dust, completely confused. :( Eor was possibly even more frustrated than I, but because he's Eor he's now searching the Internet trying to link what we just learned to information so that it'll make some sense in his head. And what he's finding is that there's six count and eight count swing dances, but there's no such thing as the four count thing she was teaching us.
I don't really care - I mean, she might have been trying to half it and make it more simple just to start out with. What got me frustrated was the turn. I kept thinking my legs would get tangled in Eor's, or at best I would kick him. And he, watching it, thought she took three more steps than I did when she made the turn, yet she was telling me that I had it. What?
Why won't instructors actually go as slow as I need? Am I that horribly uncoordinated? Is there something wrong with me?
