Yesterday I made retroposts about Friday and Saturday, and then didn't get around to making the post I wrote yesterday, so today I made a retropost about Sunday...
The reason I didn't post the thing I was writing yesterday was that Hawk and his mate got home and they took us out for dinner at Buck's Naked Barbecue - it was delicious, as always, a few drinks were had and a lot of laughs. :) Then we came back and they'd been talking about watching a movie, so we put in "The Colour of Magic," which HawkMate didn't show up for because she had to take a very important call from a friend in need of talking (she's like Mary Morstan Watson, a beacon to people in distress) and Hawk promptly fell asleep on the couch.
So we finished the first half and then attempted to sleep, but it was too damned hot. I kept being woken by the sprinkler across the street and thinking crazed things in my heat induced haze - that it was a rattlesnake or that the steam heat was malfunctioning. That last was not completely odd, as it happened at our old place that the steam heat would sometimes kick into overdrive and we'd be roasted out all night and listening to it hissing madly, but we don't HAVE steam heat here! And rattlesnake? We don't have many around here. I don't know. I didn't sleep well, to say the least. Six hours in bed and I feel like I might as well have stayed awake all night.
Then I got waked by the trash truck arriving - and departing not having emptied the dumpster because someone's car is parked in front of it. I made phone calls and tried to determine who's car it was, and went up to Unit #5 to ask if it was theirs, but the Baxter the Golden Retriever appeared to be home alone. I assume, since I don't think anyone could sleep through his barking when I knocked, and I didn't hear anyone yell at him to shut up.
I hope the people who own #5 and sublet it will man up and pay the fee to have the trash truck come back, because I'm almost positive they haven't informed their tenants that there will be a fee in the case of someone leaving their car parked in the way. I suppose that nobody expected the trash truck to come around on what's for most people a Monday holiday this year, but making assumptions is just stupid where fees are concerned. Why can't their guests park in the CVS lot like Hawk does? Everyone thinks rules don't apply to them.
Gosh I don't want to go to work in this cranky and half-dead state, but I really have no choice. Can't call in on a Monday holiday, I'd be written up so fast it would make your head spin. Everyone is crouched in the coolest places they can find - Eor in the darkened living room over his laptop (which I really don't think is all that cool, but it's his call) and Hawk and his mate were laying on the floor in the catchall room, where there was a fan blowing on them until the sun got onto that window just now.
