Curse you, [livejournal.com profile] mizzliz!  K has to be one of the most difficult letters in the English language!  I poked at it a bit and then forgot about it for a week or so, until I noticed [livejournal.com profile] miss_gordon doing the same meme.  And now I've used up my evening trying to do this ... and getting distracted and reading about Tale Spin, probably the only Disney cartoon I actually liked.  (And Kaa was not in it.)

Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. Post your list in your journal, and give out some letters of your own; leave a comment for me here so I can read your list! :)

1) Kind people.  I deal with so many rude, self-centered people all day that it almost brings tears to my eyes when someone is kind.

2) Keen observations by Eor. :)

3) Kink!  Not really, but it sounded good.  Well, I suppose reading slash might be considered a bit of kink in the first place, and I when I'm reading I do go for the weirdest stuff.  As far as myself goes, of course, I'm pure as the driven snow.  Those pictures with the aardvark and the electric egg beater mean nothing.

4) Killing time with LiveJournal.  Okay, I know it's a stretch.  But I AM an addict.

5) Kinks, The.  I acquired the Kinks Kronicals when I was about 14 and it remains one of my all time favorite records even though my copy is on vinyl and I haven't listened to it for years.

6) Kissing.

7) Kooks.  We see plenty of those at work, too.  No, wait - I don't love them.  But sometimes they're good for entertainment value.  Like the guy who told us that if we opened his lobsters all the cold would go rushing up and the hot air would fall into the box and the lobsters would die.  Because hot air is heavier than cold air.  He knew this because he was an engineer.  Yeah... right.  I do love Eor, though, and he can be a kook in a good way. ;)

8) Kaa in the Kipling's Jungle Book.  I didn't even want to see the Disney movie as a kid because I thought they'd ruined the entire thing, but Kaa worst of all.*

9) Knocking off work at the end of the day.  Damn it's great to get out of there.

10) King of Calypso - a song by Ed's Redeeming Qualities which sums up the angst of having been born in the wrong place at the wrong time and of the wrong genetic stock.  (Why does it make sense to be able to get a sex change if you can't get a race change?)

--------------------------------------------------
* The Disney movie also caused me to get into an argument with the neighbor boy because when he saw my book he insisted that the illustrations were wrong - "Mowgli wasn't a black kid!" he said.  "Well, no," I said, "he's Indian."  "He's a white kid!"  I was confused and befuddled.  It just seemed ridiculous to me to think of him as white or black, as the story clearly takes place in India, and the neighbor boy's vehemence about the whole thing was very odd.  This was probably my first personal experience with racism and it took me quite aback.

My fella needs a sex and race change. He is a six and a half foot white Irish guy who is convinced he is black American woman taking crap off her man. He listens to soul and reggea among other things, not the most enlightened music when it comes to women. It's strange that he empathises with the females in all those songs though.

How interesting! Sounds like a positive thing - I mean, he's empathetic, and that's good. Though it's a bit confusing.

Oh wait, I only just remembered that in fact I did say that if you commented you could have a letter. I happen to have a B, here. Free to good home if you'd like it.

"He's a white kid!"

*blinks*

I boggle. It's weird the way people grow up blinkered, innit?

Innit, indeed. That kid was a psycho, but it's terrifying to me how average he was.

Oh, and hey - since you commented, I happen to have this letter E laying around. You can have it, if you want.

Yes, ten things that you love, each beginning with an E. It can be a bit of a stretch, sometimes. ;)

Wasn't he the rockingest? What kid wouldn't want a mystic mentor who can turn himself into a comfy chair?

For commenting, if you should choose to use it, you may have this fine, handcrafted, letter M.

K is an awesome letter. There is one in my name, so clearly it is great! :)

I wish to do this meme also :)

You're the first person who's actually commented and said you want to do the meme. Now, I wonder if I should interpret all the other comments as quiet pleas to be given a letter, or just comments?

For all your good works, and in recognition of your awesome talents, I award you the letter "J"! Go, and use this letter well.
