It's actually like a two-foot by three-foot space of dirt that I chunked up with a sort of pick-axey thing and tossed some bagged dirt down, then artlessly stuck in a few little plants (coleanthus, I think they're called - green and red variegated leaves) and some seeds - two different kinds of forget-me-nots (Victorians and blues... again, I think) and then some violets (King Henrys, maybe?) and a few more seeds of coleanthus? coleus?. I kind of feel as though it's a waste of space to not have vegetables in there, but at the same time this is a little experiment to just see if I can get anything at all to grow out there. It's so shady, and I had to grab seeds and plants that were advertised as doing well in shade. It's a stretch between the sidewalk and the road, with a largish tree on either end shading it nicely.
I think before I tackle the rest of this space - there's another three or four yards of barren dirt, still - I might invest in a hoe.
A cute girl came by and said "pretty!" :)
