I forgot to mention, either Wed or Thurs last week I had to look into a guy's bag and I noticed his books - he had at least five, one titled "My Father's a Punk" or something like that, and "A Clockwork Orange" - I don't think I managed to see the titles on the rest. Asked him if he was reading them all at once or if he just didn't want to run out and he said he was here for swing dance camp and just wanted to have enough reading, not knowing how much down time he'd have. I expressed surprise at a swing dance camp, and he said it's very specialized, but I was more thinking, "There's a swing dance camp in Maine??"

Swing dance, punk, "Clockwork Orange." It seems right, somehow. I wouldn't be surprised to find he liked ska, too. Swing and ska seem to blend through so naturally. Ska seems to exist in a middle ground between things - punk, swing, jazz, 50's-style rock, calypso.

Yesterday I asked coworker ComicArtist (DD2) where the subversives meet, which he appreciated. ;) He said "Universities" immediately, so I explained that was the beginning of the discussion in the car on the way back from King Richard's, Saturday. ([livejournal.com profile] groundctrl asked, "Where do subversives meet after leaving college?")

And here, have a Kula Shaker video on YouTube, because it's Holmesian themed and I love the "Watson's inner self" whatsit. Not slashy, particularly, unless you really step back and squint.

Wow, swing dancing. I'd love to learn that some day. Mickey would never go for it though, even though I know he wishes he did know how to dance. Soul dancing would be more his thing though, but he'd want to just magically know how, not go to the bother of learning learn. Maybe when we retire. lol.

That guy had an interesting bag!
