Well, everyone's done this already, but I actually went to the link from
arjuna_lj's journal...
1. Go to http://www.careercruising.com/.
2. Put in Username: nycareers, Password: landmark.
3. Take their "Career Matchmaker" questions.
4. Bold is good, strike is bad...
(and in my case neither means I don't know what it is, usually. or I have no feeling for or against it. Or I ran out of time.)
1)Artist - re this and the next two similar: I wanted to do all this when I was a kid, but I've lost all my mad art skillz since then!
2)Animator
3)Cartoonist / Comic Illustrator
4) Conservator - What is it? If it's in a museum that's cool.
5) Editor - I haven't actually got the learnings needed, but I think I might like it.
6) Technical Writer - I think I'd like this.
7)Political Aide - not in a million years.
8) Market Research Analyst -
9) Translator - But I don't know any other language to speak of.
10) Researcher
11) Agronomist
12) Industrial Designer
13) Archivist
14)Illustrator - ditto above.
15) Epidemiologist
16) Film Editor
17) Scientist - too vague.
18) Public Policy Analyst - could be good if I knew what it was.
19) Model Maker - they pay people to build models of Sopwith Camels?
20) Zoologist
21) GIS Specialist
22) Librarian
23) Economist
24) Ecologist
25) Cartographer
26) Set Designer
27) Potter - I can has magical powerz now?
28) Desktop Publisher
29) Anthropologist
30) Medical Illustrator
31) Biologist
32) Website Designer
33) Biological Tech
34) Criminologist
35) Microbiologist
36) Writer - Yeah, right!! :)
37) Genetic Counselor
38) Historian
39) Exhibit Designer - sounds cool
40)Computer Network Specialist - been there, done that. Enjoyed it, but I don't really want to go back - too much technical change to keep up on all the time.
Actually my reaction to most of the bolded ones is "sure, that'd be great if I had schooling in that direction and there were any jobs doing that around here." But, guess what?
