Yesterday my 'new' trainee (who I'd had for like two weeks) quit. And I got an award for being a mentor. Which I received wearing white socks because I'd just walked in to work and was a couple of minutes late and not quite changed up.
Real life at work is full of those kinds of gem moments. I wish I could record all of them! :)
The trainee actually came in and shook my hand and told me I was awesome, and explained that she was leaving because of her foot not being able to take standing all day, which I accepted as the truth since she'd been mentioning from the beginning that she was icing it every night when she went home because it would swell up during the day, and when she would mention it hurting during the day I would try to get her some sitting down job for a while.
