I went to get the dress (which I had offered to lend to my coworker) out of the closet, and while I was in the closet I noticed that the toolbox was crushing in the top of the box it was setting on top of. Curious as to what might be getting crushed, I moved it and opened said box, and noticed a bad smell. It was a Coleman fuel tank, I could hear the bubbling noise. I called the fire department just to ask what I should do, and they sent a whole truck out, sirens and everything, just to pick it up. Must have been a dull morning. I do love our fire department. :)

Coming back inside I realized that part of the bad smell that I had attributed to the garbage last night might have been the propane. I had checked our stove, though, and made sure all the knobs were off, so my instincts were working.

So, now I have windows open. And I don't think I want to light the stove to cook breakfast, though it's probably perfectly safe. I should have asked them to come up and sniff around, but I thought they might take the other (different sort of) fuel tank as well just to be on the safe side. And it just occurred to me they might also have not thought much of me storing the gasoline (petroleum) tank under my desk. (It's empty, and has had months to dry, so I don't think there could even be any fumes left in it.)

I think I'll go out for a while and find something to eat.
