I went to get the dress (which I had offered to lend to my coworker) out of the closet, and while I was in the closet I noticed that the toolbox was crushing in the top of the box it was setting on top of. Curious as to what might be getting crushed, I moved it and opened said box, and noticed a bad smell. It was a Coleman fuel tank, I could hear the bubbling noise. I called the fire department just to ask what I should do, and they sent a whole truck out, sirens and everything, just to pick it up. Must have been a dull morning. I do love our fire department. :)

Coming back inside I realized that part of the bad smell that I had attributed to the garbage last night might have been the propane. I had checked our stove, though, and made sure all the knobs were off, so my instincts were working.

So, now I have windows open. And I don't think I want to light the stove to cook breakfast, though it's probably perfectly safe. I should have asked them to come up and sniff around, but I thought they might take the other (different sort of) fuel tank as well just to be on the safe side. And it just occurred to me they might also have not thought much of me storing the gasoline (petroleum) tank under my desk. (It's empty, and has had months to dry, so I don't think there could even be any fumes left in it.)

I think I'll go out for a while and find something to eat.

Actually do have that dr's appt today.  :P  Yeah, I know I have to do it, I'm glad my dr scheduled it, but getting my girly bits inspected is never fun.  No, it really just isn't, I just can't seem to develop a kink that way.

I'm working on the tea and food thing.  Yesterday I thought I would grab breakfast on my way to work (as a reward for writing that reference thing I had to get myself to do) and found that the place I would usually get it still only has partial power since the storm at the beginning of the week, and no hot foods.  And the place across the road, where they probably actually cook the stuff I buy, is shut down completely.  So I grabbed a packet of nuts.  It wasn't nearly as satisfying as breakfast pizza.  But, after taking my nice, hot bath, and doing my stretching, now I don't really have time to cook, so I guess I'm eating leftovers for breakfast.  That sucks because it bites into our supply of leftovers.

That storm was really pretty damaging, I guess - we're actually qualifying for some disaster relief in some areas of the state.  It wasn't bad for us in town, but lots of my and Eor's co-workers still don't have power in their homes.  I need to write the story about the train - I didn't actually come close to being hit, but it gave me a scare when I looked up (and up and up) and it was right there.  Just remember, kids, if the traffic lights are out, ALWAYS check before you drive across railroad tracks.

The weather has finally broken, we have only little wispy clouds!  You know the type, mare's tails, which tell you that more weather is coming.  But hey, I hadn't expected to see any sun until the weekend, so that's okay. :)  And usually a little sun goes a long way with me.  I get tired of it quick.  I just wanted a little, you know, because it had been so long and so cold.  Someone said the other day that it's not global warming or a new ice-age, it's just that we've been a month behind all winter, and we still are.

Now I think I should go read something, it makes eating faster if I'm not trying to type.  And I have to leave like momentarily.
"The horror of that moment I shall never forget!"
"You will, you know, if you don't write it down."

(This is a backdated entry.)

I thought I left in plenty of time to get to work, but Stroudwater was roadblocked - an exceptionally high tide because of the storm and I guess some atronomical influences made the road impassable, there - so I had to backtrack and take the highway.

I remembered to check as I was crossing the railroad tracks on that stretch of road, but as I was coming in toward St. John St. I was thinking about something else. I bump-bumped over the tracks and as I was doing so I looked up to the right - and there, right there moving toward me (albeit very slowly) was the train.

All of the street lights were out because of the storm, so the crossing lights were out, too, and apparently the drop bars at that crossing are electric, as well.
