I thought I left in plenty of time to get to work, but Stroudwater was roadblocked - an exceptionally high tide because of the storm and I guess some atronomical influences made the road impassable, there - so I had to backtrack and take the highway.
I remembered to check as I was crossing the railroad tracks on that stretch of road, but as I was coming in toward St. John St. I was thinking about something else. I bump-bumped over the tracks and as I was doing so I looked up to the right - and there, right there moving toward me (albeit very slowly) was the train.
All of the street lights were out because of the storm, so the crossing lights were out, too, and apparently the drop bars at that crossing are electric, as well.
