Yesterday morning's inbrief a Supervisor asked if there were any woman who would like to stay late that evening (a question asked every morning because there needs to be a woman there until the checkpoint closes and it can't be closed until the last flight takes off, but all women are scheduled to leave at 8pm). Nobody raised their hand.

"Well then, is there any woman who wouldn't mind staying late?"

No hands.

"Okay. Is there anyone who really doesn't want to stay late, but will?"

Then I raised my hand. :)

We really need to work out who's going to take what days. I usually only volunteer when nobody else does, because I prefer to get up at 6am and I don't like to have to nap after Eor leaves in the morning. But I guess there's some slight chance that they might create a later shift for a couple of women when the new bid comes out. It'll probably be a split shift, 10am to 10pm with two hours off (3-5) so that they only get paid for 10 hours, and they'll force a part-timer to take it.

I may have mentioned this before, but that's the deal these days - if you want full time you're supposed to suffer with being a part-timer on a 10 hour split shift for a while. Way to drive away the help. Of course it's mandated by Washington. We don't NEED split-shifts at our airport, we're busy pretty much constantly from 4am until 7pm, and having people coming and going screws up the schedule something awful.

It really makes me feel as though I should write a very stern letter, but I know I'd be persona non grata if I did.

Shift bid fast approacheth and there's rumors that one of the two women who has seniority over me and therefore can beat me out for the much coveted Saturday-Sunday days off might decided to switch shifts from AM to PM. However, rumors are often started just to see who can be made to squeal for the amusement of the rumor monger, so I'll ignore that.

I went to the gym with Phoebe and walked for 45 minutes! :) Time for a shower and maybe breakfast.

I haven't been hungry since... I don't know when - and I had decided I would not eat until I was, I would just drink juices, but I'm now thinking about how bad it would be to get hungry at the Checkpoint - we aren't allowed to bring in anything to drink, now, we have to buy it on the other side, and the juices at Starbucks are like $5, and they don't pay me well enough for that. I suppose it's possible I might luck out and not be at the Checkpoint, but one can't depend on such a thing. You aren't allowed to know where you're going to be scheduled until you're actually sent there because you might call out sick if you don't like your assignment. *eyeroll* The people who did that are gone because they called out sick way too often, so I'd say that were a self-correcting problem and no need to punish everyone. Besides, they're LONG gone, it's been a couple of years, but they don't relax on things once they've decided that's the way it's going to be.

Gosh, am I a little irked by work, lately?
