Trying to decide what to take to work tomorrow for my contribution to the Thanksgiving feed. The spread has been steadily declining - the first year it was amazing, and the second not bad, but this year there hasn't even been a sign up sheet put up, so I don't even know if someone is bringing mashed potatoes. It's not a Thanksgiving feed without turkey, but without mashed potatoes it isn't worth even bothering with. Traditionally I've taken steamed green beans and asparagus with cheese sauce, which is largely ignored although people make plenty of noise beforehand about how much they would like it.

Well, mainly it's the cheese sauce which is ignored, and I think that's because people don't know what it is or what it's for, and since that's the part that really takes time and work I should perhaps just bring the steamed veggies and butter to put on them. I could do that. Then I won't have to feel bad about my time and work being wasted.

Hm, after digging out the containers which I bought last year for the purpose of carrying the green beans and asparagus I am reminded that I also bought dishes to carry butter. Did I do the cheese sauce last year? Yeah, I think I did that AND butter, for the people who can't tell cheese sauce from cream of wheat.

Okay, off to buy green beans and asparagus.

Ha, I don't have to buy more cranberry sauce. The stuff I bought last year which didn't get eaten is good until January '08. ;)
