But I'm pleased with the result. I took the bike and the tire pump up to the LL Bean bike/ski/etc. store and they checked out the tire pump and said it was defective and they'd be glad to exchange it, so A+ win, imho. They found the piece of glass in the tire and replaced the innertube, and I decided to get new tires that are a little more puncture resistant and have more tread so that hopefully I can do more riding in gravel. The guy reminded me these would give me more resistance and I said that I actually wanted more resistance, because I'm riding for exercise and like to ride slow, so I had been trying to find ways to get more resistance, and he said I was weird. "Most people who want to ride slow want to ride easy, so you're weird. Not that that's a bad thing." :) Total cost would probably have been close to $65, I think (ignoring the pump because they were going to do an even exchange) but I got out of it for under $11 because I had Eor's discount and three or four coupons on my credit card account. And he didn't charge me for the work of changing out the back tire, which I think might have initially been an oversight on his part, but he mentioned it when totaling up the damages. So, psych. :)
Now it's time for me to get ready to go, so I'm not getting up to Brunswick for that package today, and that bums me out because Hawk went up this morning (to get his van worked on) and I could have given him the key for the mailbox if I'd realized I wasn't going to be able to do it myself.
...Just phoned the UPS store and Hawk and he can pick that stuff up on his way back without the key, he'll just need to show ID, so that's awesome. Really, there's a lot of awesome in my day right now, it's quite astounding. ;)
I told him the tale of how I lucked out with getting the bike tire fixed and he said that I lead a charmed life - "I'm going to stick next to you." "It's not usual," I said. And now that I think of it, it's probably because he's here, and he's the Golden Boy, some of it's rubbing off of him. ;) Though I've got to admit, too, that a lot of his luck is probably in his attitude, he always looks at the positive side. He had a flat tire on his van a few days ago, got stuck on the side of a highway with no shoulder, cars whizzing by at 90mph, upper 90 degree heat, got the tire off and his spare out, and it was flat, too, his Mate missed her flight back to Seattle, "But it worked out okay," he said, "She got to see her parents again before going home and her Mom got her another flight out for the next morning."
Now I'm way late, better jump in the shower and find something I can eat very quickly.
