We have a package of delights from
daegaer! :) One of the most odd things is a little notebook with blank pages that looks very much like a passport at first glance. Also, an eraser that looks like a lipstick, with Betty Boop on the side. :)
We were good and went to the gym. We both felt our performance on the treadmills was rather miserable, but there you go - we haven't been in months. (Okay, I've been, but not much.) Hopefully we'll improve. Our current plan is to cook lots of food tonight so that we'll have leftovers for dinner tomorrow and be able to take at least a short trip down to the gym rather than having to cook.
I went up to the hospital to see Darrin (which I probably should have before now, seeing as I only live three blocks away, but I'm a bit shy about visiting people), and he was alert and talkative. In fact, I barely got a word in edgewise, and then he shooed me out saying he just doesn't have enough energy to concentrate on anything. Thanked me for thinking of bringing him books, and I think he was really on the verge of taking them, but then he said that he really couldn't even follow an episode of Sponge Bob, and maybe magazines were much more his speed. And he showed me the shattered leg, which was pretty gross looking.
Word through the grapevine (though he didn't mention it) was that they might have to take it off. That must be an unpleasant prospect for someone who used to be a dance instructor.

Yeah. I saw his wife in the hall talking quite intensely with one of the hospital staff. She's a nurse, so if anyone can be effective advocating it'll probably be her, if advocation can help (which sometimes it can).
Sometimes just getting to the gym is all I can do. I walk on the treadmill a bit and that's about all I have energy for. I saw this thing on tv while I was there talking about how you should do cardio warm up and then muscular things and then cardio again. As IF! One cardio is about it for me, I just don't even feel I have time for more, even on Sunday. I have high quality lazing around to do.
