Hee! :D He is pretty terrifying - looks like some kind of hentai monster. And we only water him once a week, if that. :) I suspect it's the windows all around him, all the light he gets. But they may just die with no light; I'm not sure what sort of balance can be struck. Maybe just keep him in a small pot and trim his ends every now and then?
