On Saturday I finally put my resume in for a slight change of job at work - something ill-defined that has to do with training. Word on the street is that it's actually a data entry job to help out the Training Coordinator, since he's not that good at that sort of thing. He's a good guy, but not particularly technically inclined. The job still requires a person to be on the floor 20 hours a week, so it's not really a completely different job.

I thought pretty much all I'd have to do would be to put my resume in, and that it was all correct. Well, when I look at it in editing mode it IS all correct, but when I view it in regular mode that everyone else sees there are details that refuse to update. I decided to put it in anyway, since the deadline is tomorrow. After submitting it I had to fill out an application online, which I hadn't expected. And then it wanted me to print a cover sheet for my SF-50, which is a government form that tells exactly when you entered service with the gov't and all the details of your present status. But it didn't provide a link to where I could actually get my SF-50. So I searched around my house for a current one, and all I could find were from 2006 or before. I searched for the card that I used to have which told the different websites for various work information, couldn't find that. I searched online... same lack of results. Now, I know I'm lame at finding things, but this is ridiculous.

So, my goal for today is to go in early and see if I can get the HR person or one of my co-workers to help me find the correct website. Of course I'm worried that it won't let me in until I've gone through some sort of process of asking for and receiving a password, which might take a week. It's possible, however, that they'll let me be a little delayed on getting the SF-50 in since I already have the application and resume completed.

hi there, can you go through these fifty hoops so that someone will come back with a simple "no" or "yes"?

gotta love it.

[crosses fingers for you]

Hope they give you the required leeway and you found the elusive SF-50.

Good luck!

One of the Leads said that when he applied for that job he faxed the SF-50 in the day after the due date and they were okay with that, and also said that they don't necessarily need the most updated one. I found plenty of them from 2006! So I'll just take one of those tomorrow and fax it in.

I really don't GET why they need us to fax in a form we could more easily deliver by hand.
