Plans for today and tomorrow:
Happened to catch Mistress of the Night (co-worker who now travels to teach) and attempted to get her to commit to going out to breakfast with me. We finally settled on Wednesday, 9:30AM at the IHOP near the Mall, which is just, to me, the pit of all possible places to go, but it is convenient to work. Not that I care. However, I'm supposed to call her in the morning on Wed to remind her, so I'll have the opportunity to think of another suggestion. Of course when I call she'll probably bag out saying she's too tired or just not answer her phone and later say she was asleep.
Today, however, is Tuesday, and I have PT, need to pick up wiper blade refills for my car, and need to pick up the sneakers I ordered.
For your amusement and edification:
- The pipedream about what airport checkpoints will look like "soon!"
Among other (wonderful, I'm sure) ideas, there's supposed to be special green and blue indirect lighting and ambient sounds for calming the passengers.
But the part that makes employees say, "I'll quit if they make me do that" (check the third pulsating red dot from the bottom, in the queue area) TSO Storyboards: portraits and brief personal profiles put a face on and show the personal side of our officers.
We were having much fun talking about what they were going to say about us. And some people had to make stuff up to be shocking, but for some of us the actual unvarnished truth probably would not be allowed.
I asked Moose what would go on mine; "In her spare time [Derien] writes male/male romance stories?"
"They'll have to make something up," he said. (Moose enjoys collecting and shooting guns. He also likes blowing things up and meeting men.)
And now for something you'll really like:
limerentish has begun a Jeeves/Wooster story with some possible Psmith/Mike. So far I think she writes Psmith well, and the whole concept delights me immensely.
Crap, it's time for me to run.

But short biographies of the staff? That would be too cruel. Why don't they just put up uplifting pictures of the landscape and art and glorious past visitors to the airport such as JFK? That's what they do in Irish airports and we never get unruly in the queues, no sir.

The Irish are known for being inherently polite people. Right? o.o
