The price of basmati rice went up $5 for the 5Kg bags we buy. I don't know exactly when, since I didn't buy any rice last weekend. I should probably not have bought this bag, as we have plenty (we started going into hoard mode a few weeks ago when we first heard about food riots in other parts of the world), but I forgot to even look at the price on the shelf. At the counter I was kind of shocked that one bag of rice and two packages of corn tortillas could cost almost $20. It's getting expensive to eat. Eor, when are we planning to move to the country and start growing our own food? Seriously, I'm getting more and more interested in joining some sort of farming commune. A relatively stable one, that is.

yeah, that whole "no longer exporting rice" thing that happened is causing huge havoc. argument to go on the atkins diet just to save money.
