My god, why did I have to do skip=40 to catch up on my flist, today? Maybe it was just all the new stories being posted over at [livejournal.com profile] bujold_fic, but somehow I don't think so.

Yesterday must have been a successful birthday celebration because I was sick this morning. ;) Actually, I only had one drink and remember everything, but I had to wonder if they mixed it a little strong - I seriously woke up feeling like I'd had three. Maybe it was the whoopie pie (which, for those of you not from Maine, is one of these...)

and the foofoo Starbuck's coffee I had at work, or the French bread that came with the steamed mussels, or the black beans in the rice under the grilled shrimp-wrapped-in-bacon (topped with skinny cut deep-fried zucchini - mmm!!), (eta - I'm sure it couldn't have been the sundae we had for desert) but whatever it was I woke up during the night with my stomach quivering, and it was still doing so when I woke up again in the morning. Time, constant trips to the bathroom, and lots of redbush tea are making me feel better. :)

(more ETA - Eor took me out for dinner, as you already might have guessed if you could puzzle through his entry from afterward. I would also like to point out that he posted a rather decent pic of me (though I do have my dork-face on) from our camping trip, in case you missed it. Also, that the fire leaping up "like John Barleycorn"* even after being pounded by rain for two and a half hours was entirely due to his mad skillz as a pyromaniac, an obsession that runs in his family. ;))

Isn't food lovely? I suppose I should find some other way to indulge myself, but it's only once in a while that I really go all out like that.

They are awesome! A lot of people take them home with them, because you can't get them other places, and that might be because they don't ship well. I keep debating if there's some way I might be able to package them and then send them express, but I have to think they probably won't be as good when they get there. I'm debating seeing if I can get someone to make a version with a chocolate crust on the outside in hopes that will seal the cake and keep them longer.

Probably not. It's basically chocolate cake and white frosting, I guess, though the cake is usually quite moist. But if you cook them outside of Maine I'm not sure they'll taste quite the same. ;)

LOL! That looks like nothing so much as a squidgy chocolate version of the Quahog Clam from Family Guy. XD

And tasty too. :-9

I wonder if that's the inspiration for them. :) And yes, they are very tasty - lots of people take them home when they fly out because you can't get them other places and they don't ship well. Now you can get them with white cake and blueberries (white frosting in the middle), or with the traditional chocolate cake and peanut butter or coffee frosting in the middle, but though they're all good I still feel the chocolate cake and white frosting is the real deal.
