Packing for trip to LA = mostly done. (Things which will go into my knapsack are stacked on the console stereo, but I need the knapsack for work stuff, today.)

I'm debating, though, over the two pairs of shoes which might be superfluous. I've got them in the suitcase right now, and it doesn't weigh much, but I might want to lighten my load. I'm already planning to wear (on the flight) my black boots that I wear at work, and those look alright and are very comfortable (I've fallen into a habit of wearing them every day). These are the ones I wore last year at the Faire, so they'd be fine for walking around if I happened to do that with my brother after class. And then I plan to take the sandals which I'm planning to wear to Faire this year, they're very comfortable. So I'm not sure the high heels and the brown oxfords make sense. I only included the brown oxfords because I didn't want to have all black shoes - I thought brown would look better with the one pair of tan trousers I packed. But they're no good for walking in - they look as if they would be, so it was a disappointment that they're not. And the heels (which are quite comfortable) got included because I packed a skirt... but the boots would still be okay with the skirt. So, should I cut the oxfords and the high heels and lighten my load a bit more? I'm already surprised at how little I feel I need, compared to most of the travellers who's stuff I look at.

I'm not sure what your entire schedule will be, but I would say cut out the oxfords (you don't want to wear them thinking you won't have to walk and then be uncomfortable if you unexpectedly do), but bring the heels if there's even a chance you might have to go somewhere dressy. That way you have all your bases covered from casual to dressed-up, but only one pair of shoes that might be bad if you suddenly realize you have to walk ten blocks.

Normally, I'd advise taking AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE (I am a ParanoidPacker), but from your post, I think you've already decided to justifiably cut out the oxfords. ;-) Boots and heels sound fine for every eventuality. :-)
