I actually brought myself to make a phone call, Sunday.
Me: "How are you?"
Hawk: "Um.... Running full diagnostic. All systems checked. I'm okay..?*"
(He reveals that he's planning a trip to Mexico with a friend...)
Hawk: "Is there anything I can bring back for you? Some jumping beans or one of those things to keep you warm?"
Me: "Like a serape?"**
Hawk: "That's the shawl thing, like Martha Stewart? Ponchos are more street, right?"
It is vitally important that we not accidentally slip into the dress style of the upper class, we may get mistaken for them! :) I may write him a note and tease him about that, but he's right in one sense - I don't exactly feel comfortable dressing like a middle/upper class person. I sometimes wish that I could do so, effortlessly, because I think it might be the way to get a better job, but it's a costume for me when I try it. And I don't get how people keep a serape across one shoulder and it doesn't just fall off. Do they have special magical powers? And is there any other purpose to them besides adding color to an outfit?
Oh ick, it's snowing again. And I have to get errands run; must go.

*He tends to end all his sentences on an uplilt like a question; I'm not sure if this is insecurity and reaching for a response so that he knows people are listening, or just a West Coast thing.
**serape
