I have actually sacrificed a full day of my annual leave time to see one house, tomorrow. I hope my hopes aren't dashed.

Picture an old farmhouse in Gray (http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/15-Yarmouth-Rd_Gray_ME_04039_1107203627)... Problems include the barn and shed sitting on the ground (sills might need replacing), and heating being currently all with monitor heaters vented into an unlined chimney (is it just me being a fretter again or does that pose a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning?). Potential problems: even though it's apparently on city water there doesn't seem to be a city sewage system, and there is at least some 'moisture' in the basement (unclear how much).

It's actually divided into two apartments, and the upstairs tenant wants to stay on for now. The downstairs tenant I think is planning to move out in April. Having one tenant seems as though it could work out well for us. Apparently the housing refund still applies if the building will be your primary residence! :) (If I'd known that before I might have put more pressure on Eor to go for a multi family in Brunswick... If this doesn't work out I'll keep that in mind.)

It's on a long narrow strip of land that runs back to a couple of baseball fields... how quaint and bucolic. ;)
