You ever notice that when you don't post for a while it seems as if there's nothing to say? Normally I'll write just anything, but now I feel as if it has to be "worthwhile." Stuff, though....

-- One of my coworkers who I like and talk with, HardCore, is leaving at the beginning of next month, during the week I'm on vacation. He got a better job, checking up on labor rules violations. I'm going to miss him.

-- Next week I have to teach my first Baggage class the first two days.

-- Wednesday of next week we go to Katahdin, which I do not feel at all ready for.

-- Saturday* I'm going to see the Pirate Invasion in Damarascotta with [livejournal.com profile] littleredhead! :)

-- Saturday, Eor has to work, because all the people in his office are stupid. *pouts* :(

-- I found some amazingly delicious granola, but it's wicked expensive, so I have been mixing it with rice (reheated with milk, butter, honey and blueberries) as a way to stretch it out. I've been alternating this with oatmeal for my breakfast the past few days, and my eggs have been languishing, unloved. I miss them! But I've been trying to get my ass down to Portland earlyish to move stuff out of the old place (how on earth do we have so much shit?) and clean and keep thinking that avoiding cooking real food will somehow help that. Ha ha, I'm just as bad at getting my ass moving as I ever have been.

Speaking of which...
-- [livejournal.com profile] kryptyd, I am enjoying the heck out of "Standish"! This is a fun book. :)

*Today is Thursday, right? My computer time got all screwed up by a power outtage, yesterday.

I hoped you would. I loved the historical details. It's the other kind of PWP, porn WITH plot.

Hehe. Don't worry about Katahdin. I climbed last year (with my family) with people ranging from "preparing during the year" (my aunt and her gang) and "people who prepared by buying hiking boots" (my mom and I) and it wasn't bad! Long, tiring, but not painfully so. And my aunt has back issues, so it isn't redonk. There's lots of pleasant places to rest.

Thing is, the route we tackled the last two years, and are going at again this year, is pretty hard, at least for us. We climbed Mount Washington three years (maybe four?) ago and it wasn't nearly as difficult, just long. The last two years up Katahdin we haven't quite finished. Once we felt we were pushing our time, but ended up getting down in plenty of time before dark so realized we could probably have made it, and last year we got rained out just short of the very top. Literally, we were going up that last cone and Eor felt that his legs just could not continue lifting him upward. I was completely convinced that we were going to die. Possibly that's just my own anxiety issues showing, and this year I have the Zoloft, so maybe it'll be better. ;)
