I really should be better about updating, because I forget everything interesting by the time I get around to posting, and there are many things I would probably like to remember in later years.
We watched "Hogfather" with Hawk and his mate on the 22nd, which seemed close enough to the solstice to us to be appropriate. The 23rd we had Eve Eve and exchanged presents - from Eor I got a new headset with a mic so I'll be able to do Rosetta Stone at home! :) He also gave me a clip-on light for my Nook that I love the hell out of - saves me from flipping lights on and off when I'm walking from room to room reading. (As one does, right?)
Eor also got Hawk a whole subwoofer setup for his van stereo system, and will help him install it when he gets back from the Cape after New Year's (where he and his mate have gone to hang with her parents), which Hawk was rather blown away by. :)
Hawk got Eor a nice set of earphones, which he's been wanting badly since his last ones broke, and I got Eor a Nook cover (which he pretty much told me to get, so not such a good score for me).
Eightball (our brother in CA) sent Hawk and me knives - for me a black anodized jackknife with a quick release and for Hawk an amazing, huge sheath knife you'd have to strap to your thigh, also black anodized. Scary-ass zombie apocalypse presents! :) Hawk had no idea what to do with the knife, but found it fascinating to hold and just move to let the light catch it and feel the weight.
And I must mention the jars of preserves Cyberquail made and sent us! Tomato chutney, pear chutney, bitter lime pickle and, the one I'm most interested in getting into, fruit mincemeat, although I'm sure they'll all be good, knowing her l33t skills. I'm impressed; I know how much time and work goes into making such things.
Now I'm off to visit Dad, so I'll be driving most of today and had better get on it. Hope you're all having a good Holiday. :)
