Well, I have decided. I am going to Faire, I am not going to my cousin's step-son's funeral. I haven't managed to contact my cousin in person, so I left a message on his answering machine expressing my condolences, but wimped out and somehow managed to not say that I wasn't going to make it. I kind of wanted to say that in person, or at least in real time voice. But maybe they don't feel like answering the phone right now. So maybe I'll have to call back and leave a second message. I hate leaving my voice on a machine.

You're right too. I never go to funerals unless someone specifically asks me to or I think my not being there will cause undue upset. I can count on one hand the amount of them I've been to, which is down to good luck/having a small family as well as my attitude to funerals.
