A discussion on cow creamers on indeedsir induced someone to check ebay to see if there might be a few out there, and there were LOTS, so on a lark I did another search - a goat creamer.
That's quite nice, but EWWW at the other little figurines in that shop! How did anyone ever think those things were in any way nice or charming?
I must admit though there is a tradition of extremely crudely made china dogs, known as "chainey dogs" here and despite (or possibly because of) their extreme ugliness I love them. No one else gets it though, so I'll probably never own one.
I tried to get a picture of them from the internet to show you but all that comes up is stuff about Cheney's dog.
I didn't even look at the other things, and now that I try I can't get the pics to come up. Probably my browser, again. But from what you say I guess I'm not missing much.
Are they sort of bad imitation chinese style china dogs?
I have a white china cow creamer (which was a gift but I loved it) and a White china cow butter dish (which I bought after the creamer) - and a little kitten creamer (the milk comes out from the paw). you've probably seen them, they are on the back of our stove. I actually have quite a fondness for plain white china animals - I have some s&p shakers shaped like songbirds and koi as well.
but, sadly, no sheep. I'll have to keep an eye out!
But there's no handle! I mean, obvs. a goat's tail doesn't have the same potential for handleosity as a cow's, but still: how do you hold it while pouring?
I always keep an eye out on ShopGoodwill.com for silver cow creamers. As yet, there haven't been any in my price range, but I'm still hoping.
