Remember that if you make wish lists give them some nice tag so I can find them! :) Also, has anyone ever found a reliable way of crosschecking with friends of friends to make sure you all haven't bought the same gift for someone? Homemade gifts ARE superior because one is not likely to duplicate.

That WAS you when you were a kid, wasn't it? I kind of loved Pratchett for making that kid ambiguous and then you find out it's a little girl. :)

RE: lists & stuff for holiday gifting. Well, in my little cluster of home-made fambly, we each make a list of what we'd like (and if there's anything we DON'T want) and we get together and 'claim' what we're going to buy.
Person 1 gets with persons 2-4 to sort what everyone's getting person 5. Person 2 gets with persons 3-5 to sort what everyone's getting person 1. Etc etc in a daisy-chain of giftishness. It's saved a lot of grief. Sometimes we'll go in in clusters to get a more pricey gift, too. More etc.

Dear Hogfather ~ I would like a little skelington rat of my very own. Pref. with small scythe and black robes. Would keep him polished and feed him the stinky dead cheese in the back of the pantry. At least I think it's cheese.

I just feel weird about approaching the friends of a friend who are people I don't know at all to make sure nobody else has bought them something I want to get them. OTOH maybe they won't mind if they get two of the same thing.

I can't help but imagine how one polishes a skeleton rat - with painstaking care is all I can think. :)

And your icon with this polar bear is the best animated icon ever, I suspect. A very short and simple action and perfectly looped. Hard to get tired of it. :)
