Tea

([personal profile] derien Mar. 29th, 2010 07:23 am)
Because I think I crowed about it at the time, but I can't remember if I posted pics, and since I was in the mode of resizing and posting I figured I'd continue this morning...

When we moved in last June, Eor made a tea drawer for me, and I think it is awesome. Holds all my tea balls and stray bags that people send me so I can try something out. There's also a couple of packets of hot chocolate from England upper left there (a year old, I should use those) and some spices for making hot cider. But mostly - tea! My sweetie is the best, he thinks of everything.

In case you don't think there's enough tea in our lives, you can see two black canisters over the the right which hold the Irish and English Breakfast tea, and center is the blue jar which contains the smell of my lapsang souchong. (The tiny little box you can see on the counter to the right of my teapot is - you guessed it - tea. It and it's siblings live in the pantry.)

...and the ceylon black, Shaw's cheap tea, Earl Grey and rooibus. (And above, cookbooks.) There's also more tea in the pantry, but it's mostly backup supply in case one of these starts to run out. In short, I love my kitchen as a whole, because it has space for tea.

And when he says he's going to build you something he ACTUALLY does it! I'm still waiting for a lightbox a certain someone has been threatening to build for a long time.

That's cool. And it also reminds me that I need a teapot. One cup made in the cup just doesn't cut it.

I think generally Eor doesn't even say he's going to do something, he just does it. "Look, I made you a tea drawer!" Partly this is because he loves to surprise me, and partly I suspect this is because he's contrary and can't stand it when people expect things of him. It's pressure and guilt, isn't it, when people expect you to do something? It makes me not want to do it.

I LOVE my teapot! You're right, one cup never seems like enough, and I never seem to be able to get the water/tea proportion as I like it.

Ha, you spotted THAT right away! I need to drink more of that - I keep saving it for 'special,' which is just stupid.

Yeah :) Hey I've always wondered, can you get Côte d'Or chocolate where you live? It's Belgian and I know it gets exported cause ohgosh ohm nom nom

A tea drawer, such a great idea! We seem to have our tea scattered all over the place; canisters, cupboards, pantry, boxes on the back of the stove... My tea manages to stay all in one place (mainly because I only drink one kind) but if I ever try to organize or consolidate Nudnik's, he forgets he has it, and just goes and buys more. I'm not quite sure your organizational scheme would work well for us for that reason.

What a clever idea! My mom got me a mug from a local teashop that enables me to have their 'tea of the day' for a year, and boy have I been enjoying that! Today's is 'Brandied Apple'. YUM.
