We're wandering around London, trapped in England by the volcano. We were supposed to fly out yesterday, and I'm betting we won't til Tuesday at least. Wish us luck.

yay, we get to see London! We can do walks and free museums, anyway, which is far more than I ever thought I'd be able to. ;)

Since [livejournal.com profile] kryptyd came to our rescue yesterday and let us use her phone to call Virgin Atlantic we're doing pretty well. ;)

I was wondering about you guys yesterday....luck wished! I hope you've got someplace to stay & are getting to see a bit of the town other than the airport.

They wouldn't even let people in to the airport. We spent two days kind of transient, but now we have the prospect of staying in this hotel if we can find a way to book it that isn't too public. (Eor doesn't feel good about putting his credit card info in on an internet cafe machine.)

I'm so glad you're doing okay down there; I've been just a little worried (not too much, because after all, you're both pretty resourceful). Things are fine up here too. I went out and bought myself a netbook so I could sit in the pub and compute instead of the library with its two-hour per day limit. I'm getting some work done, and I think things are going as well as can be expected. Also finally got to see the castle and climbed "Sharp Haw", Skipton's little mountain.

All the best - see you back in America - sometime!

you bought yourself a netbook! we were just saying how handy that would be rather than sitting in these internet cafes paying by the hour. does it have this funk english keyboard which i can't type for shit on?

It does indeed have the English keyboard, and the keyboard is smaller to boot, resulting in many typos. But it's got a "£" key, which is way cool as far as I'm concerned. :)

Yes, because it's always such a pain to make the symbol for 'pound' that I never bother, so cool and useful. I want one! You'll probably adapt to the size and weirdness soon enough, or not need to use it that much, anyway. Handy for travelling, though. :)

argh

that anonymous post was me. (also it's not only the funkyness of the english keyboards, but also the fact that these internet cafe keyboards have been so badly abused.)
