Okay, sorry if this is TMI, but I might have mentioned before that sometimes I get bad menstruel cramps. This time I screwed around with my pills while I was on vaca so that I could put off my period until I got back, and yesterday I paid for that big time. Meanwhile, recertification testing had begun while I was gone, so on coming back, Monday, I was informed I would have to take a test on the subject I teach, and all day Monday everyone who'd taken it already kept telling me how very difficult it was, and that two people had flunked it and I would have to work with them to help them get ready to take it again. I begged to be allowed to take it myself, first, so they let me wait until yesterday... when the cramps and misery were in full swing. I felt like I'd been pulled backward through a wringer as I was going in to my test. I couldn't even interpret simple instructions Pheobe was giving me about how to start the test.
Got done with all 35 questions in like 15 minutes. Went back and checked all my answers, because all the co-workers had made me so jittery that maybe I was misunderstanding things. Changed one answer. I won't say it was easy, by any means - the sentences were complex. But, I got 100%. Which was what everyone else seemed to expect of me, but seriously it DID surprise me - I don't seem to test so well, these days. Then had lunch and immediately after started in tutoring people. Which lasted an hour and a half. By the time we were done I felt as though what little grey matter I have was trickling out my ears. Gosh I hope I helped them. It seemed like they got the concepts, but the real trick with this test seems to be reading comprehension, not the concepts. Which seems unfair to me.

I got your letter, thanks! It sounds like a fun holiday, even with the ash cloud. Did Virgin Atlantic reimburse you yet?

No reimbursement yet - I only photocopied all our receipts yesterday. I think Eor is looking up the address to send them to, but I should probably write up some notes on some of them. Though I don't expect them to deny us - I do think we were reasonable.

Did you see that RyanAir was trying to get out of paying for its passengers? They had to eventually, but I bet all the airlines lobby for a change in the regulations after this.
