I've been ODing on Pratchett, lately, and kind of loving it. I read all the Johnny books out of order, because Eor did, and I wanted to be able to talk to him about "Johnny and the Bomb" before it was a distant memory for him. I had to take a break between "Only You Can Save Mankind" and "Johnny and the Dead" because Eor wasn't finished with it, yet, so in between I read "Nation."

"Nation" suffers possibly from reusing a lot of Pratchett's standard types of ideas and a few contrived plot points, but how wrong can you go if you've got pirates, cannibles, mummies lost tribes and a Victorian girl?

The Johnny books... read Eor's post if you aren't familiar with them. I can't recommend them enough, and I'm very glad I bought these books for my cousin's kids. I only hope they read them!

Oh man, the Johnny books are one of my favorite things by him.

I've only read Johnny and The Dead and I loved it. I got quite teary at the bits about community spirit and all that. *Sniff!*
