Sorry I haven't been posting much, things have been kind of weird and suck, what with Dad (looking better Sunday than he did Friday), Skipper, and also more recently a friend of mine who was working in the office went back to screening due to pervs she had to work with in the office. What the fuck were management thinking making a woman have to work in the same cube with a known pervs? And why should she have to give up a job she liked and did well at because of these men? If Skipper was fired for drinking, why are these guys not fired? Of course maybe it's one of those management games - maybe they can't fire on just one complaint and they needed to generate a condition under which another complaint would develope. You'd think if that were the case she'd have gotten a bit more sympathy.
I had to make up the new schedule, yesterday, and the only way I could see to make it work right was for me to take over Skipper's old shift, which is not exactly convenient for me. I'm going in two hours later, which means I can't get my shit together in the morning (too much time!) and will get nothing done in the evening because I'll be coming home so late.
In other news, the place that housed our local gluten-free bakery burned down - 11 people homeless, but in typical Maine fashion the article still finds something to make one laugh: None of the tenants was injured, but one firefighter was hurt, he said. A passing motorist who stopped to ask directions ran over the foot of a firefighter from Brunswick Naval Air Station who was helping clean up the scene.
(As an aside, I was surprised nobody commented on my post from April 7, when I saw the car run off the road - I thought at least someone would comment about the nice young man with the wader boots - and when I looked back I realized it had never crossposted from Dreamwidth. :P So now it's there.)
