I started to read "True History of the Ned Kelly Gang (a novel)" by Peter Carey. I don't know as I'll go much further. It might be excellent writing, but his insistence on not using quotation marks or commas is too annoying to me.
I keep wandering around the house wondering what it was that I told Eor last night, just as I was falling asleep, to please remind me to do this morning. I'd better write him email.

mizzmarvel because that's next week! I freaked out a little when I realized that. I'm planning on driving by myself because the plans to take the train started frustrating me too much, (and I thought I'd have to carry too much) but I'm now beginning to get a little scared by this idea. Still. I can do it! I know I can. I won't be driving into Boston-proper or New York City proper, so it's really just a long drive. I just have to drink a lot of water and then not miss the rest areas. ;) Also, learn to use the mp3 player which has a LOT of music on it.

Haven't read much Carey, probably because he's so feted here - unfair I know, but "when I hear the word national treasure..." etc. Liked Bliss, but read it too long ago to remember what the stylistics were like.
I occasionally have the same problem with Jose Saramago and Cormac McCarthy - love'em to death, don't doubt the genius, but *man* your brain boils after a while.
