We found out why we can't catch the shrew in our have-a-heart trap. He's small enough to fit through the bars. In fact I was just kneeling down to reset the trap (which had been set off by Eor cleaning) and the shrew walked right out from between the boxes of records right in front of me, squeezed into the cage and started eating. With me sitting not two feet away. They really are afraid of nothing. If I'd had the big rubber mallet I could have played whack-a-mole. Not that I would, of course.

Eor decided to try throwing a blanket over the whole cage and hauling it outdoors, but by the time we got to a place to let him go, it turned out there was nothing in the bundle of blanket. (The cage, but no shrew.) I don't think he dropped out as we were running outside, so he must have bolted back through the bars of the cage, that fast.

Off to visit Dad, today, and just waiting for Hawk to warm up his van and bring it around. He's taking Dad's violin back up, having made some fixes on it, and says if he's doing that he must take his bass as well. Ah, here he is.
