I suspect it was because I found a couple of mistakes of his. I tried not to make a big deal of them, but he went to great lengths to point up every small mistake I made, or construe my questions as stupid, and make HUGE deals.

Yeah, I did know he was like that when I took the job. That doesn't really change how I feel. Well, maybe it does. I guess I'm much more annoyed, I'm not taking it to heart like I can, sometimes. I'm just concerned that other people overhearing our altercations might think I really AM an idiot. I ranted in my head all the way home, but now I just want to sleep.

I hate when a "discussion" is so annoying or unresolved that it warrants a post-mortem rant-to-self, but believe me, I have plenty of them too, so I know how you feel!

Look at it this way; anyone overhearing your conversations probably already knows this guy can be pretty prickish, and that he's the idiot, not you. If they don't know it, they probably don't have much exposure to your working environment (and therefore to you either) so their opinions are irrelevant in the big picture. Either way, it's a no-lose for you!

Other people must know what he's like too so they won't think badly of you if they overhear anything.
