Well, we may have figured something else out. The on and off low fever and the bursitis in his knees and swelling around his ankles and the base of his toes might be related to Lyme. (Maybe the achilles tendonitis, too, I'm not sure.)

He's been treated for Lyme before and thought it wasn't likely he would get it again, but it can happen. He got the blood test on either Monday or Tuesday, and then I think there may have been some miscommunication and he may have gotten it again on Wednesday, after seeing a doctor. The results won't be back for a few days but the doctor decided to get him on doxycycline right away, after looking at the purpleness of the swelling.

ahahaha!! :D Nope, nope he really can't seem to. :) In other news, I started thinking after I posted that "Doesn't Lyme cause heart problems?" and was able to report to him "Did you know Lyme causes heart attacks?" He said yes, he heard them talking to the guy in the next bed in the cardiac ward about getting a Lyme test and had wondered why nobody suggested one for him, given he had mentioned cutting his own wood, which means exposure to Lyme carrying deer ticks. So that's why he decided to get the blood test himself. Of course since he's already had Lyme before the test isn't as good an indicator, because you keep the Lyme antibodies.

And did you know that doctors now officially don't believe in chronic Lyme? Apparently too many quacks have spoiled the broth.

Hopefully the doctors pay enough attention to this, whether or not they believe in it, to at least be sure if it is or isn't Lyme.

Well, the convenient thing is, the Lyme-bearing ticks are so small that most people never see the tick that gives them the disease.
