The meme reads:

Type "[your name] needs" into a Google search, then turn the results into a poll. (for those without polling options, you choose the 5 funniest).

But I can't.  Because, pathetically enough, when I type in "derien needs" I get all of one (1) answer:

"derien needs some friends!"

I don't know.  It's more important to me that [livejournal.com profile] eor needs more friends.

Hey, no fog this morning.  I miss it, because I love fog, but it was making work horrible.  For the past three days the fog only lifted during the middle of the day, and all late afternoon, night, and early morning the planes couldn't land in Portland - so there were no planes to go out.  People kept re-booking and trying to get on another flight out, but it just wasn't happening.  Consequently we had very long lines and LOTS of Specials (it always happens when they re-book) - and my shift lost three people in the past month (Mr. Anderson, Wibby and M.M.) and we're thin at midweek, anyway, so it was murderously busy.  At least fog is a calming weather, and people weren't as mean as they could have been.

I need to go to the library, I should get a move on.

Ah, what a full day.  I made a small child cry.  A little toddler leaned down and put both hands onto the belt that carries the bags into the big x-ray, putting his weight on them, and I could just picture what would happen if Grey Wolf didn't see him (because the monitors block the view from the console, where she was sitting, and you often can't see the lower part of the belt) and if she started the belt up - his hands would go thwoop out from underneath him, he'd land on his face and get pulled up into the machine...

And instinct took over.  I belted out a very sharp, commanding, "No!"

He backed right off and hid behind his mom.

I felt sorry and apologized to him, telling him I just wanted him to be safe, but that just made it worse because it brought attention to him all the more, and he began crying in earnest.

Poor thing.  It's hard to know what level to pitch yourself at when you don't know a kid's reactions.  His parents appreciated the fact that I was just watching out for him, they weren't upset as they left, though of course if he kept on long I'm sure they probably weren't happy.

Other than that, I think I moved about six hundred bags, today.  I need to sleep.
